Packing Up Your Home

In the past tea chests were used. The image of our removal team packing everything into tea chests has long gone and the torn clothes and cut hands on the nails with it. Today we use cartons which are delivered flat and stored easily until they are required.

Packaging Materials

Consisting of cartons, vinyl tape, bubble wrap, pack of white paper, all packing materials are non-returnable and are delivered prior to your removal date. Garment rails are on the removal vehicle for your use.

Packing Instructions (If you decide to pack)

China, Glass Breakables : Must be wrapped separately in paper, plates should be wrapped in stacks of six with a sheet of paper between each plate. Handles, spouts, lids etc should have extra padding. Before starting to pack the china cartons, put a layer of screwed up paper at the bottom at least two inches deep to act as a cushion, then put a layer of heavy or strong breakables at the bottom I.e plates on edge or vases standing upright until the cartons are nearly full, and finish off with screwed up paper at the top of the carton. DO NOT OVERFILL CARTONS. DO NOT MAKE ANY CARTON TOO HEAVY. NEVER LAY BREAKABLES DOWN, ALWAYS STAND UPRIGHT. (MAKE AS TALL AS POSSIBLE)

Unnecessary Packing

It may not be necessary to empty chest and dressing table drawers, ottomans etc, if the contents are unbreakable and if the furniture is strong enough to be moved with its contents.

Clothes

All clothes on hangers may be left until the day of the removal. They will then be moved with the use of our garment transporters, unless they are in small wardrobes and can be left inside during the removal.

Mirrors And Pictures

Should be wrapped and packed upright into cartons, if too large leave for us to pack.
Automatic Washing Machines : It is the responsibly of the customer to make secure the drum etc, or as the manufacturers instructions (check with your local dealer)
